The location was very good and the local free parking was a bonus.
My stay was comfortable, the staff were good, the room was clean. Breakfast was better then many places i have stayed in.
Breakfast was excellent. Staff very helpful and welcoming. Room was clean with good seaview, great shower. If you like nice, quiet and relaxing then stay here.
Good hotel and no issues at all. Could have done with a mini fridge in the room but not essential. Decor, dated but adds character, expected nothing less.
Staff are very friendly and I really appreciated the upgrade! Got after a number of years to find the pool which I really enjoyed. Best Wishes Ange
he food was very good.
I hate everything about the hotel,i came with my family but when i got to the hotel i was told the pool is not opened and also the hotel is just a glorified old peoples home.I will never in my whole life recommend the hotel for anybody.
I hate everything about the hotel.
The atitude and helpfulness of the Staff
The Hydro was a very homely and friendly hotel we were impressed
My wife and I had to make an overnight stay in Eastbourne - how very lucky we were that we selected 'The Hydro'. It is an absolutely superb hotel in every possible way. The location is quiet yet still close enough to walk to the town. Parking is not a problem. Whilst we were not at the hotel long enough to enjoy all the facilities we were both very impressed with everything from the cleanliness and sumptuous surroundings to the super breakfast.
We stayed with other family members, you accomodated 16 of us for an evening meal all around 1 table which was very nice.
The no casual wear and menhaving to wer ties for the evening meal
Old and pompous hotel harking back to old times when Eastbourne was a well frequented sea bath. Situated in a quiet corner of the city. Pebble beach is near. Helpful staff. Breakfast was o.k.. Evening dinner requires tie for men and long dress for women. If you want to once in your life experience the hotel life of bygone times you should hurry as the hotel will be forced to close down in about 10 years time as about 95 percent of the residents are above 80 and probably been guests every summer for the last 50 years. No younger guest save a few lost business men whatsoever, listing on web sites (how I stumbled upon it) does apparently not help.
The smell of a typical retirement home due to the untold masses of slightly leaky elder people. Working as staff day in day out must be hell. Apparently some rooms have not been used for quite some time as mine was clean on first glance but when I removed the blankets from the bed large mold stains came to light.
Lovely room, immaculate, comfortable bed, clean bathroom, Fluffy white towels
The service in the restaurant was very quick. The food was ever so slightly disappointing...............a Champagne veloute was no such thing and spoilt the excellent poached fish. Large portions, and not expensive
Conveniently situated, close to the seafront and for access to Beachy Head. Pleasant, rooms well maintained and clean. Nice view from one of our 2 rooms. Efficient lift near room. The outdoor pool was clean, heated and surprisingly warm, our 3-year old enjoyed playing there but had to be constantly held up as shallow end started a 3ft and quickly got deeper (not sure why a hotel has a small pool that is mainly over 5ft deep when there is 'no diving' and is mainly used by small children!).
Quiet, peaceful and quaint. I was kindly Upgraded to double room
Fire alarms and inadequate protocol -- staff training -- for shepherding elderly /disabled guests. Great Faulty Towers experience for the able!!
Location away from hustle of City is excellent. Nice quiet location.
Piano playing invaded our room when we wanted to relax. Noisy child screaming late night and then early hours of morning. Reception staff obviously felt we were a nuisance when we checked in. Seemed to have something else better to do out the back. Probably electronic games!
