Staff were very helpfully and knowledgeable nice clean rooms and facility
The Hydro was suitably placed for me to have as base for visiting family and friends. There was a fairly relaxed feel to the hotel with plenty of places to sit, read and meet with people. Very atmospheric and whilst 'old fashioned', was charming too.
The rooms were very clean although for me the decor (bedspreads and curtains) did not fit the style of room as they were more 1980's than 1880'S.
Staff efficient. Restaurant staff swift and obliging. Room cleaned well.
They didn't offer free Wifi for more than 30 minutes
Location. Its very English and traditional. Caters for family groups that include all ages. Very good atmosphere. Food is very good . In the lounge there are lots of places to sit and read and relax, with no pressure to order food. Altogether very pleasant and relaxing. Caters for and is comfortable for older people.
We had a false alarm fire alert: the escape route was inadequate.
It was in a convient location and they allowed me to come and go as i needed during the night for work. Interior decoration was very classy and well maintained. The hotel in general was very clean.
Uncomfortable and old fashioned bed linen. Strict rules and timings for meals. We had difficulty trying to order room service suring the evening. Receptionist didn't inform us of building work being carried out outside our window which started at 08:00am when they knew i was working until the early hours. Serious lack of parking, there was only a couple of spaces which all but one was disabled and everyone else had to park on the street in a residential area.
The service in the dining room was very quick and efficent. The staff were polite and helpful at all times.
Was not told that my mobile phone could wipe my room key card if kept next to it.
Positioned at the better end of Eastbourne. Restaurants and common areas excellent.
We liked the style of the hotel and the grounds were very well maintained and pretty. The pool was well hidden from the garden and again maintained to a high standard. The hotel is nearer one end of the bay and on a quieter stretch of road which we both like. An old-style hotel, but maintained to a high standard with efficient staff. Very comfortable and has a dress code.
Clientelle - too old
the location, the relaxed atmosphere, the friendliness of the staff, the breakfast was excelllent and the service superbnothing!!! We wished we could have stayed longer.
Excellent, as above, no adverse comments.
This was a lovelly old fashioned "proper" hotel looking hotel. Big old oak and glass revolving door, marble pillars. Good old fashioned service too. Everyone so polite. The bed was lovelly and comfortable, as were the pillow, marshmallows under the head. Often, in a strange bed it is difficult to sleep, and often the bed and pillows are like sleeping on rock! The shower nearly blew us through the bathroom wall!
We made a very last minute desision to stay the night in Eastbourne, so I did not pack a clock, it would have been handy to have one in the room somewhere
Its old world charm. Sea views & proximity to the sea shore & ease of walking anywhere. Breakfast was excellent.
Too hot at times.
comfortable and well sized single room. helpful staff. excellent food and wine.
Room was clean, well decorated but cramped
The bed room was absolutely spotless. The sea view was wonderful
The entrance fails to show the true quality of the hotel. The entrance needs to be refurbished.
